1. Q: My VCR has good audio, but the picture is all snowy, or blurry, could it just need a cleaning?
A:There is a very good chance that cleaning & minor adjustment could take care of the problem, 25% of all VCR problems are cured by simple maintainance

2. Q: I tried to turn my TV set on & it just clicks or nothing at all, is this a big problem?
A: Your set may have possibly, received a minor line surge, or a static discharge. We have found that, a majority of the time, unplugging the unit from the wall for 15 minutes or more will reset it, if this does not seem to work, give us a call to arrange for in-home service or bring it into the shop and we’ll be glad to provide an estimate.

3. Q: The audio on my TV is distorted, do you have any suggestions?
A: Do you have a cable box with volume control on it? If so, check that the box volume is up before adjusting the volume on your TV set. Also, does your set have any feature called “Smart Sound” or similar,(designed to lower volume for commercials),Turn it off, (Quiet scenes followed by explosions or loud noises trick the circuit).

4. Q: My TV has a large black “box” in the picture, is the tube bad?
A: Check your Closed Caption Text Mode, In the Menu, turn it off.

5. Q: My TV has colored spots or Rainbows in the picture, what could it be?
A: Your picture tube is sensitive to any magnetic fields (such as those caused by Speakers, Motors, Aquarium Pumps, etc.). The larger the tube the more sensitive it is. Over a period of time, being in close proximity (4-6 feet) to these fields can result in color and/or picture distortion. Try removing these devices from the area around your set. Your TV has a built in “deguasser’ that over a period of a couple days should take care of it. If not, it is usually a simple procedure for a Tech to alleviate.(Note:Deguassing is recommended in the final viewing position of the monitor)

6. Q: Does using a tape Rewinder really help the wear and tear on my VCR?
A: Yes, Using a rewind unit does help extend the life of the transport in your VCR.

7. Q: How often should I have my VCR cleaned?
A: Unlike changing the oil in your car, a VCR can be used until a problem occurs (i.e. snowy, blurry, etc.) however, depending on usage, we recommend cleaning once a year as a preventative measure. Our service would include not only the cleaning itself, but also lubrication, alignment and a systems check to eliminate possible problems in the future.

8. Q: Does your Service Center ship out to other facilities for repair?
A: In very rare instances a unit might be shipped only to Manufacturer’s Factory Services, however if this should happen to be the case, it would be done only with the owner’s express permission obtained prior to shipping, if this were to incur any costs to you, the customer, it would be carefully explained before the item is shipped.

9. Q: How long does the average repair take?
A: Repair Turnaround varies with each unit. However, most repairs are completed in 1 week from time of estimate approval or if in warranty. In some instances a delay may occur if a “special order part” for your unit is not in stock. At that point, (unless on national backorder) we can usually have the part in shop within 3-5 business days.

10. Q: Do you use used parts?
A: Teletech strives for quality repairs at reasonable costs, therefore the only time a used part is installed is when the original part is no longer available and the customer has been informed prior to installation. Only new parts will carry the warranty of 90 days.

11. Q: Can I buy Parts from you?
A: Teletech Service is not a parts distributor, however, many times we can supply a parts distributor phone # for you, just call, e-mail us or check our Links page for sources.

12. Q: My set is kind of old, is it worth fixing?
A: In today’s electronic industry, prices for replacement units have come down drastically. However, many older units are not only functionable, but have an intrensic value built in that you may not find in a newer unit. We realize that you need to draw a line somewhere and that is why an estimate from Teletech can help you with that decision.

13. Q: What is the difference between a Manufacturers Warranty and an Extended Warranty?
A: A manufacturers comes with the original purchase of a unit at no additional charge. An extended warranty is purchased from either the manufacturer, store, or an insurancecompanyto add on to the original warranty. Note: the extended warranty does not take affect until after the original manufacturers warranty expires.

14. Q: Do you take payments?
A: We at Teletech are sensitive to certain financial problems, we are all human, if a conscious effort is made to pay off the repair in a timely manner, we will not impose storage or interest fees, nor dispose of the unit. If after repeated attempts to contact you for payment, we do not receive a response, we may be forced to consider the unit abandoned and sell said unit to recover our costs.
This is a very
extreme case scenario but does occur.
